Digging deep to flowing stream
gliding over stones and rot
stars and heat
thoughts make frozen breath
close and wet
silence breaks
in darkness
the smell of growing things
burrowing in soil
without mercy
Flow from the stars
bathed in silver light
wind brings chill to flesh
below the grasses, brown and fallen
bowed under snow and ice
heavy in the breath of dawn
the sour echoes of rot
the decay beneath
germinates and expands toward light

Sprain sharp torn cartilage
straining against stone, against spinning spiral madness
flailing from visceral violent rage
hair teeth
skin breaks under pressure
tendons strain with swollen joints
muscles hold bone together
glint of stars on swollen pupils
rolling desperate whites
foam of spittle
pink on the mouth
red on the snow
Claws find hold in flesh
rake into underbelly
viscera falls in the darkness
black in the depth of night
running against weight,
dragging back, clouded vision blacking out stars
hoof slips
joint finds stone and splits
nostrils fill with snow and cold

below the frozen sky
veins carved through undergrowth
hidden trails
empty passage
frozen space where
life passed through life
frozen eyes
flesh consumed and left
body held by cold
Before this: sun
the first, wet steps
blinding light
pupils strain to take in everything alive
the sparkling shimmering sounds
pulled forward through feeble space
to autumn running alive
fast and free searching
for light green growth
scrape fresh velvet oaken branches
bleeding into the earth
shedding bone
granting blood
to roots and soil

The rich scent of sweat and oak
capillaries rupture
my skin bruises and bursts
teeth driven into gums
spray
running down my scalp
nails pull back and tear out
gouging desperate in the scum and filth
bleeding out
and laid down
washed over sewers flooded with rain
from every roof
carrying blood to swollen lakes
clouds reflect the city lights
trees curbs cars
bleeding out
absence feeling
absence thought
bright lights drown out the stars
cold fog drifting
join cold enumerable absence
bleeding out

To far into the dawn
the flowing cancer of sunset
roads through absence
through silence
an empty flag
before broken shadowed eyes
in open sky
march rain, lights bob over wet grass
in light and clouds in burning electric dawn
my voice rises with frogs
rot weeds, wet with morning gloss
my hands reach into the wet soil
rocks and worms in my fingernails
the earth smells of rain
and nothing and melting snow
into the dawn

taste of ashes
fallow soil left abandoned
black dead boots steel cuts through chaff
spawning filth
swollen expanded and burst
expelled from the water
starlight shines membranes, viscera
writhing
in gathering cold
beneath laden branches
sap and honey
the splitting of millions of eggs
bloated with rot
fruit ferments in abandon fields
straw and mulch thornes and blood
swollen roots of tubers
unattended dripping sap
